My Memory of Us is about a girl and a boy who meet when they are both teenagers. They become blood friends almost right away and spend their time with laughter and bliss. But everything is thrown into chaos when an evil king comes along and splits their city in two using walls, keeping the boy inside a life of restriction. Set during World War II in Poland, this is the story of these two youngsters and how they overcome obstacles. It is also based on true events.

It is a historical quest platformer set up in Poland during the occupation and through the creation of ghettos. The plot then goes that the boy is Jewish and the girl is not but comes from an equally persecuted background. This low point in history is sharply portrayed through various game components, such as the robotic dogs representing Nazi troops and other dominators.

The girl and boy have unique skills that allow them to survive their seemingly harsh ecology. The girl can run fast, which is necessary for escaping danger, while the boy can move stealthily, undetected by enemies. There’s no big bad, no world to save: just two women facing a fierce war and managing to cling on through it all together past hunger, cold, and terror- to some semblance of friendship and love.

You control the two characters, switching between them to use their special abilities. Some sections of the game focus on only one character to support the narrative. My Memory of Us focuses more on the bond between a girl and a boy. The war they are fighting is not so much to survive, but to have love, which ultimately binds them together in these hard times.
