Posthumous Wish graces puts gamers in a world where memory, secrets, and the supernatural intertwine. The plot follows the main character Aki, a woman living under the absolute worst curse of all time: she witnesses how her classmate Mitsuki passes away. Players become entangled in Aki’s ritual called the Posthumous Wish, invoking hidden memories and forces players are not ready to face.

The plot takes you through Aki figuring out how Mitsuki died and trying to find a way out of this curse which creeps up on her over time. This meaning comes with each turn, and players will find themselves in a position where they must decide what roads to travel down and which truths to uncover. The posthumous wish of Graces is divided into three parts that delve deeper into the life of Mitsuki and those who would seek to do her harm. As Aki travels through Mitsuki’s memories, she meets the other characters — each with key parts of the puzzle.

Those who, on the surface, seem to have nothing to do with Kuroha’s death or Aki’s continued suffering. The relationships between these characters aren’t initially apparent, so every encounter with them is a necessary step in the detective process, small pieces of a larger puzzle. This forces players to gather clues and find a way to the multiple endings of the game depending on their decisions made in-game.
